- He’ll never end up in a G4S ‘children’s home’ (prison). He certainly won’t end up being murdered by one of their guards.
- He won’t be one of the millions of children living in poverty in the UK, even though the number is going to keep rising for at least the next decade.
- He won’t end up as one of the (at least) over one million young people who aren’t in education, employment or training.
- At the very least he’ll earn 4 times more than the bottom 10% of the population.
- He will have disproportionate access to the best education (almost certainly a private school) which will, in turn, “confer dramatic advantages in terms of entry to the best jobs and positions of authority.”
- He’s already far more likely to attend university, to attend one of the top universities and to have a more positive experience at university than poorer children.
- He’s far less likely to suffer from chronic illness than children living in poverty.
- He won’t be one of the rising number of people affected by homelessness or one of the over 1 million children affected by substandard housing (which dramatically increases the risk of illness and disability, mental health problems, unemployment and poverty.)
- He’ll be less likely to experience behavioural and emotional problems, less likely to experience abuse and neglect and less likely to ever commit suicide.
- He’ll pay proportionately less of his income in tax than the poorest in the UK.
- He’s unlikely to access the social services for children which are being cut and privatised.
- He’ll be less likely to engage in anti-social behaviour and criminality (at least of the common or garden kind).
- If he wasn’t going to be king he’d be far more likely to be a doctor, lawyer, senior civil servant or financier than poorer children would. He’d certainly be more likely to be an MP or a journalist.
- Despite the clear and undeniable influence of class on his life, however, research suggests he’ll be far more likely to feel entitled to his advantages (to deny that they exist, even) which manifests itself in unethical behaviour.
